A Very Transgender Whiteboard Wednesday

Transgender Symbol

My attempt at the Transgender Symbol with whiteboard markers.

I thought I’d do something different for this Whiteboard Wednesday. Tonight, in Indianapolis, at Indy Reads Books, there will be an Indy Pride Week event called, “History Night: Being Transgender in Indiana“.

Focusing on the transgender community, History Night at Indy Reads Books will feature conversations and readings from C. Michael Woodward, prominent lecturer and author; Marissa Miller, the Program Director for Brothers United; and Executive Director of the Indiana Transgender Wellness Alliance, Jacqueline Patterson.

Indy Reads Books has graciously agreed to feature paperback copies of my transgender steampunk book, Trans-Continental: Girl in the Gears. I am going to make an attempt to be there, but the event has over 500 RSVPs, and Indy Reads Books can only hold 100 people. There are going to be remote gatherings at Indiana Youth Group, The Metro, and Theatre on the Square, as well as online via video streaming.

If you are interested in the event, check out the Facebook event page (click the picture or the linked text above) for locals, and video streaming for those unable to attend in person.

  1. What an awesome turn out! I hope your book does well.

My book was displayed on a wall with 20 other Pride related books, and I never saw anyone pick any of the books up, so I doubt I sold any.

That said, the event was fantastic. A historic, watershed moment for transgender people in Indiana. I was proud to be there.
