I don’t care if it is a terrible pun, I have loved Star Wars since I saw it in the theater as a kid, and I am fond of Star Wars Day! I think we should all have personal days we mark that even Hallmark doesn’t recognize. We should celebrate the things we love, no matter how nerdy, no matter if someone else says it’s childish or that their thing is better than our thing. Fandom is important, it gives us dreams and helps us connect with others who identify with those dreams.
