Reality Check gets physical!

Okay all you “but I like REAL books!” people out there… now’s the time to put your money where your mouth is.  My book, Reality Check, just went on sale on Amazon in paperback form. The official book launch is on March 16th, so if you want a signed copy, come see me at That Book Place in Madison, Indiana that day. Otherwise, order it on Amazon and get a copy before even I get one.

Hydra Games is rolling out the first in a line of Pathfinder RPG supplements with this Kickstarter to fund Andronia: Region of Turmoil RPG Guidebook. It was posted under an hour ago, and we are already halfway to the first goal.  One of the stretch goals gets Hydra imprinted dice to backers of Knight level or higher, and another gets a full set of Hydra imprinted dice to those backers!  I’m hoping for that, because… DICE!

I should mention that I’m writing an adventure module (Secrets of Ogre Gulch) that is set in Andronia. That adventure will be published later this year.

timetowriteOkay, InShoStoWriWe* Day 2. Yesterday, I walked into the Kickoff Party with zero ideas, other than maybe using some of my novel characters for the story. After talking with Johnna Murphy, David Love, and Bethany K. Alexoff, I had a glimmer of a plot idea. This morning, I made myself do my morning exercise with no music or TV or anything to read, to give myself time to brainstorm. At the end, I rushed to my computer to type out notes from ideas I had, and now I have a rough outline of what I want in the story. I keep thinking of other things to throw in. I’ll have to put on the brakes to keep it from becoming something larger than short-story sized.

Bad news is, I will be scraping and scrabbling for time to actually WRITE this before Sunday, since I’m already overscheduled. Argh.

That Book Place Authors Fair and Reality Check Book Launch!

It’s coming… Authors FairThat Book Place is hold ing its Third Annual Authors Fair, and this one is going to be a doozy.

I will be one of 60 authors(!!!) attending, and I’ll be using the event to launch the paperback version of Reality Check! I’ll be there meeting people and selling and signing copies of the book. It should be a spectacular event, like a mini reader/writer convention.  Actually, with the guest list Frank Hall’s got going for this event, it rivals many not-so-mini cons in the area.

It’s a shindig not to be missed!  Come on down to Madison, Indiana and meet Red Tash, RJ Sullivan, Nicole Cushing, John F. Allen, Michael West, Gary Braunbeck, Lucy Snyder, Marian Allen, and a TON of other fantastic authors … doing the math, I think that may be more like four tons, actually…

I am proud to announce that my dimension-hopping science fiction novel Reality Check is now LIVE in the Amazon Kindle store!  You don’t have to have a Kindle to read it, you just need a smartphone or tablet with the free Kindle app, or you can read it on your computer/laptop.

Indiana Short Story Writing Week is coming!

ImageInShoStoWriWe for short, the second annual Indiana Short Story Writing Week is February 17th – 24th this year!  A sort of counterpoint to the National Novel Writing Month goal of writing a novel in 30 days, this challenges writers in Indiana to create a short story of 2000-5000 words in just seven days.

Last year was an enthusiastic success, with prizes donated by Apex Publishing to those top three stories read aloud at the wrap-up meeting that were voted favorites by attendees.

The Kickoff meeting will be at the IUPUI IT Building Sunday, February 17th from 1-5pm, the Wrap-Up (with excerpt readings and possibly prizes) will be the following Sunday, February 24th from 1-5pm. Everyone’s invited to participate, or if you’re a publisher/editor/author who’d just like to attend to hear what our talented Nindy folks come up with, that’s highly encouraged too!

It has not yet been decided if there is a theme this year.

Having some published writers and authors attend will help encourage the newer writers, the way I was encouraged years ago. It’s great fun, the Nindy folks are brilliant, funny, and creative and we always have a good time.
