Pukwudgie vs Cthulhu – ANIMATED Whiteboard Wednesday!

My first ever animated Whiteboard Wednesday! (Shut up! It’s Wednesday in Australia right now…)

Pukwudgies are sort of the Native American equivalent of the Gremlins, except not as nice. I’ll be writing about them during July as I tackle the third Tipsy Fairy Tale novel, Mean Spirit!

Enjoy! And share it around if you like it.

NaNoWriMo… in July?

Alphasmart Neo

The right tool for the job of pounding out words… and NO FACEBOOKING!

I’m writing this declaration of intent to help hold me to a goal: I intend to write half a novel in July.

Why half? Why July?

Well, November is the usual month for National Novel Writing Month, but I have a work trip planned for November that will take up over a week of that month. Something disruptive like that is sure to sabotage my noveling. So… I am making a preemptive strike and have made a pact with my friend Johnna that we will write no less than  25,000 words in July. That means not just half the words, but July has a whole extra day in it. That means barely more than 800 words per day on average.

Easy peasy. I’ve written more than 800 words on my lunch break.

I may regret those words, especially since I’ll be spending 3 of those days attending the InConjunction science fiction/fantasy convention as a guest (and selling my books in the vendor room!), but I think it’ll be good to get back in a regular writing routine again.

Hmm, and I have some Iron Writer events coming in July too.

I hope this turns out okay.  Wish me luck!

Whiteboard Wednesday and Blue Spirit

In Blue Spirit, Skye flees a burning building, an iron fireplace poker her only weapon against barely seen evil fairies.

In Blue Spirit, Skye flees a burning building, an iron fireplace poker her only weapon against barely seen evil fairies.

Today’s Whiteboard Wednesday appears here because Facebook is not letting me upload the image. I hope to add it to the album later.

Also… as a teaser, I will say a few things about Blue Spirit. It has been out of print and unavailable electronically for almost a year now. It has a sequel written, Restless Spirit, which needs editing. It has a planned third book, Mean Spirit, which has been started, but needs reworking due to events in the middle book.

The teaser is, I hope to have big news for you regarding these books SOON!

Guest Blog: Out of My Chimerical Mind!

53690-final_talesoftheseeliecourt_650Today, I am Crymsyn Hart’s guest on her site, “Vampires, Witches, and Me, Oh My!” with an article I call “Out of my Chimerical Mind!”. I talk about how I came up with my story, “Seelie Goose”, which is a part of A Chimerical World: Tales of the Seelie Court.

I’m off to The Steampunk World’s Fair!

The Steampunk World's FairWell, I’m leaving on Thursday afternoon, in a van full of crazy fun friends from 3 Fates / Line By Lion Press, off on an adventure!

I will be selling books at their table, we will be outdoors under a tent between the hotels. I will be dressing as my character Silly Hat Dionne. Yes, I even got a corset and will be dressed in feminine Steampunk attire, pirate shirt, long fun skirts, funky brass jewelry, obligatory goggles, and a brand new black duct tape top hat I made.

Why? Well, for the fun of costuming, and because I’m transgender. I’ll get more into that later, but I’m open to questions. For now, just think of it as cosplay.

Oh yes, there will be pictures. It’s going to be FUN.

Wish me luck in sales, I am going all out for this one, and I’m hoping my books will be a hit.

It’s the Road Ghosts Soundtrack! For you!

I made this just for you, my Road Ghosts fans!

Music sets the pace of every great road trip. Whether it’s on cassette, CD, or even someone’s iPod, the road goes faster, the good times even more amazing to the beat of the right songs.

Road Ghosts was written with a certain sound in mind, the rhythm of the road, the hum of the engine, and the soul of the Blues. The books are named for Robert Johnson songs, but Punk and Zydeco joined the Blues as I wrote them.

This is like a mix tape for Road Ghosts fans. Pop it in the player and you’ll be whisked away with Gonzo, Brett, Liz, and Jimbo, down the highway in pursuit of (or pursued by) the Road Ghosts.

Four ’til Late’s songs are the first on the list, followed by Sinking Down’s.  When Me and the Devil comes out, I’ll add even more to fill out the Trilogy. Each book’s songs are kicked off by the book’s video trailer.

Enjoy!!! And if you think of songs that came to mind while reading the books, please add a comment below.

FREE funny Road Ghosts story: Spectral Delivery! High speed pizza delivery & paranormal investigation!

spectral-delivery-neon4

Okay, so you’ve heard me go on about this story since Valentine’s Day. It’s a funny pizza delivery ghost story set in the Road Ghosts universe… an intro to the world if you haven’t read Four ’til Late or Sinking Down, but if you have, then you’ll get more of the in-jokes.

So, just because I believe so much in the Road Ghosts books, I’m offering this 6500 word story for FREE to see if I can get you hooked on the world. It’s free until April 10th. Click on the book image for Amazon, or see the links at the bottom of this posting.

A Road Ghosts Story (with extra pepperoni)

Meet Enid, a pizza delivery trainee who’s stuck riding along with ghost-geek Brett on Valentine’s Day night. Her boyfriend begs her to try to get off early, but things get weirder and weirder as she and Brett find paranormal activity at every stop. Fascinated, Enid finds herself pulled into Brett’s shadowy world as they race to get hot pizza to their final destination, and see that love is a tie that binds spirits long after death.

“Spectral Delivery is a great portal into the longer series to help a reader judge if they want to make the larger commitment (It was mine…and come on in, the water’s fine!) and offers a great sense of the author’s style from his humor to his gravitas. Highly recommended!” – RJ Sullivan

Published by Seventh Star Press, edited by Kathy Watness and RJ Sullivan, with artwork by Kirsten Maloney, this Seventh Star Single is a short introduction to the Road Ghosts world, and a few of the characters in it. Narrated by Enid, this is an outsider’s introduction to the supernatural world that Brett, Gonzo, and the others take for granted in Four ’til Late, Sinking Down, and Me and the Devil (Spring 2014).
